A brand new year is already upon us! Many will be happy to leave 2020 behind and move on into 2021. Maybe this crochet cup cozy pattern can help you do that.
I hope you can still find a fond memory or two from your not so typical year in 2020.
One memory I will always have of 2020 is having my daughter on February 2, 2020 (02/02/2020) which was her due date! On the first palindrome day in 909 years. A palindrome day is when a date is the same read forwards and backwards. She was born at 12:02 pm.
Pattern Details:
I’m excited to share this cup cozy pattern with you! This will be the 4th year doing a New Year’s cup cozy design. I love finding different contrasting colors to make this in each year.

YARN:
This years design I decided to buy some new yarns to try that I found at my local Hobby Lobby. Past years I already had some yarns in my stash that I was able to use. I really like the black and white theme for this years design.

The black yarn used is I Love This Cotton in Black Sparkle. The white yarn is Yarn Bee Tweed Indeed in the color Confetti. This color is a white background with some fun neon tweed specks throughout.
You can use a similar weight #4 yarn for this project. I really like a cotton based yarn for cup cozies but you can use another fiber content if you have some on hand.
PATTERN:
With this design there will be no written Row by Row instructions. You will be following a graph to create this cup cozy. This type of crochet is called Tapestry Crochet. You will need some knowledge of that type of crochet as well as how to do color changes.
Each Row is worked in single crochet stitches and worked in the back loop only.
There will be 2 graphs that you can follow. Graph 1 is the full 2021 year you can have on the cozy. Graph 2 is the shortened version of 2021 which is (’21).
