Instructions – Angled Moss Stitch Bookmark:
Row 1: Ch 38, sc in second ch from hook, ch 1, sc in next, *ch 1, sk 1, sc in next; repeat from * across until 3 remain, ch 1, sk 1, sc2tog the last 2 chs, turn. 19 sts, 18 ch sps
Row 2: Ch 1, sc2tog the first st and first ch sp, *ch 1, sk 1, sc in next ch sp; repeat from * across to last st, ch 1, sc in last, turn. 19 sts, 18 ch sps
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first, ch 1, sc in next ch sp, ch 1, sk 1, *sc in next ch sp, ch 1, sk 1; repeat from * across to last ch sp, sc2tog the last ch sp and last st, turn. 19 sts, 18 ch sps
Rows 4-7: Repeat Rows 2-3. Do not turn after Row 7.
BORDER: Rotate to work along short edge, ch 1, sc evenly around entire bookmark, join to the first st with a slip stitch. Fasten off and weave in ends.
FINISHING
Tassel (optional): Wrap yarn 5-6 times around a piece of paperboard that is 5 inches long, cut yarn at the bottom of the paperboard where you started and ended the wrapping, fold pieces in half together, use a larger crochet hook if needed, insert hook through one of the points of the bookmark, grab the tassel with the hook where folded in half and pull part way through, push yarn ends through the loop and tighten, trim to desired length.
Stiffening (optional): Mix approximately equal amounts of warm water with Mod Podge or School Glue. Place bookmark (not the tassel) into the water glue mixture. Gently squeeze the mixture into the bookmark. Lay flat on towel and press out excess water. Leave to dry.
