Have you ever needed a gift for a baby shower where the gender was unknown? Well this gender neutral crochet baby blanket could be the perfect baby shower gift.
I absolutely love a solid 1 color baby blanket but working with 1 color can be boring sometimes. That’s when texture can really come into play.
The textured stripes within the main body of this blanket are created using 2 different stitches worked in the back loop only. The border also adds its own different texture with the specific yarn that is used.
If you don’t like working with Lion Brand Go For Faux Yarn or you don’t have any on hand, you can always use a different yarn of your choice and add any kind of border to your liking.
This gender neutral crochet baby blanket design would also be a great option to use for a photo shoot. The different textures and the solid color would work great as a photo prop. - IMPORTANT: Make sure your slip stitches within the pattern aren’t too tight.

- You can always adjust the size of this blanket by chaining more foundation chains and working more row repeats.

Instructions:
With A, ch 69.
Row 1: Edc in 3rd ch from hook, edc in each ch across, turn – 67 sts.
REMINDER: Keep your tension loose when working the slip stitches. If you need, you can work those rows in a larger hook size.
Rows 2-4: Working in the blo from here on, ch 1, sl st in each st across, turn – 67 sts.
Row 5: Ch 2, work the first and last st in both loops and the rest in the blo, edc in each st across, turn – 67 sts.
Rows 6-77: Repeat Rows 2-5. Do not fasten off or turn.
You will now be working in the round to create the border.
Border:
Round 1: Continuing with A, ch 1, sc evenly around placing 3 sc in each corner, join. Fasten off A.
Rounds 2-3: With B, ch 1, sc evenly around, placing 3 sc in each corner (add a stitch marker to the middle stitch of each corner to easily find it the next round), join.
Round 4: Ch 1, hdc in each st around, placing 3 hdc in each corner, join.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

I can’t wait to try this blanket. I have a new baby to create a blanket for, and this one will be perfect. I think working the body in pink and the border in white fur would be lovely for a baby girl. Babies seem to love textures, especially soft ones. It seems to soothe and calm them. Stroking the fur on the border will put them to sleep in no time. Thanks so much for providing us with this pattern – for FREE – and allowing us to share in the beauty of your designs. Many blessings to you!!
This is such a beautiful blanket! Could you tell me the colors you used for the yarn and border?
Oh yes sorry I didn’t include that in the post. The Color Made Easy is Wheat and the Go For Faux is Blonde Elk. 🙂
What a great pattern . Will look lovely in any plain colour that will show off the extended stitch. Cute choice for border.
Love your patterns and their accuracy.
All the best for being safe and healthy.
Thank you.
