{A unique textured crochet cowl pattern that you’ll love making and wearing this Spring!}
Are you ready for a FREE crochet cowl pattern!? How about one that only uses 1 skein of yarn!?? I certainly enjoy 1 skein projects especially if I am working with a more expensive yarn such as a hand dyed yarn which this pattern uses.
This specific design really is all about the yarn! This colorway ‘Confetti’ from ThreadHead Knits Co looks great on any of the bases that Lindsay offers. The light pink base of this colorway is perfect for Spring!

About this design: This cowl is crocheted in rows but the rows are worked on the bias which simply means that the stitches in the rows are worked diagonally. Working on the bias is achieved by working decreases on one side and working increases on the other side. This gives a more unique look to the cowl than just rows that are worked straight and not on a diagonal.
If you love this cowl using hand dyed yarn then you will also love the Handwritten Cowl. Find the free crochet pattern HERE.

Spring Breeze Cowl Pattern:
Materials:
- Yarn: #3 Light Worsted/DK: Used in example – 1 Skein (240 yards) of ThreadHead Knits Co Confetti Colorway on Stunning DK Single ply yarn
- Hook: US Size (I/9) 5.5mm – or size needed to obtain gauge
- Other Tools: Yarn Needle, Scissors
Difficulty:
- Intermediate
Gauge:
- 14 sc sts x13 rows = 4” (10 cm) – adjust hook size if needed to obtain gauge
Dimensions:
- (lying flat after seamed) 11.5” x 8.25”
Stitches/Abbreviations: US Terms
- ch – chain
- st(s) – stitch(es)
- sc – single crochet
- sl st – slip stitch
- sp(s) – space(s)
- sk – skip
- yo – yarn over
- sc2tog – single crochet 2 stitches together (creates a decrease)
Special Stitch:
- bean st – insert hook in indicated st, yo, pull through, (yo, insert hook in same st, yo, pull through) twice, yo, pull through 6 loops on hook, ch 1 to finish
Notes:
- This is worked in rows and then joined.
- As you keep working more rows they will start to have a more diagonal slant to them, this is correct.
- You can easily substitute a weight 4 yarn for this design. Check gauge if needed.
- You can change the height of the cowl by making your beginning chain in multiples of 2.
- When working this pattern, ch-1 sps are referred to as sts rather than ch-1 sps.

Row 7: Ch 1, (sc, ch 1) in 1st st, sc in next, ch 1, sk 1, sc in the sp that is between the bean st and sc st (see image below), *ch 1, sc in each bean st across (the space on the side of the bean st and not the ch-1 sp) until 1 bean st remains, sc2tog (bean st and last st) skipping the ch-1 sp, turn – 24 sts.

Rows 8-55: Repeat Rows 2-7.
*If you would like a larger circumference cowl then continue repeats of Rows 2-7 before moving onto the last 5 rows. *
Rows 56-60: Repeat Rows 2-6. Do not fasten off.
Finishing:
Now you will join the first row with the last row to finish the cowl. Decide which side of the cowl you want to face out and fold that side so it is facing in. Line up the first and last row evenly and begin slip stitching across. Fasten off and weave in ends. Turn right side out.

They don’t appear to offer this colorway any longer. Such a shame. I quite liked these colors. I usually don’t even bother with cowl patterns but yours caught my eye. I like the diagonal stitching. Very pretty. Thank you for participating in the blog hop.
I believe she is in the process of switching her shop to shop updates rather than having items constantly available. That might be why you aren’t seeing that colorway right now.
