Crochet Pattern Testers Needed!

Posted on January 4, 2017April 1, 2024 by Simply Hooked by Janet

(View any open calls at the bottom of this page)

Each month or so I have a new pattern in the works that will always need to be tested. These patterns can range from Beginner skill level to Advanced. Some will be patterns I am self publishing and some may be patterns that will be published in a crochet magazine or with a yarn company.

  • I ask that testers be able to take good quality photos in good lighting.  Having a model for various designs would be a plus.
  • I also ask that testers post their finished projects onto Ravelry.  I will always remind you in the testing email and include links about how to do that.

What is involved in pattern testing?

Pattern testing is when you work up the pattern as written and report back to the designer of any issues or problems you may have encountered.  You will let me know if any section was confusing, if there were any typos, comment on the sizing of the item if necessary, look for grammatical errors, keep an eye out for the interchanging of row and round (if a pattern is written in the round sometimes row can be written by mistake).

I love your patterns and would really like to test some! I’ve been testing patterns all this year and have over 50 years experience crocheting. I’m 68 and still crocheting for craft fairs. I’m retired and devote a lot of time to my crocheting clothing, accessories, children’s sweaters, hats, mittens and a lot of crochet stuffed animals and toys. I’m addicted!!!! I also crochet kitchen goods, Afghans and much more! I will follow and agree to all your rules! Thanks!😊

Hi, I am new to this testing thing, but would love to help you out. I am from South Africa so the only drawback will be is that I do not have the same wool available here as what you have in your area, but I can substitute it with what we have regarding the thickness.
I am currently testing a pattern for Petra, she has a Ravely shop and I am also testing for Stephanie, she too has a Ravely account. I have a Ravely account but have not posted any of my work on there, I have done Sohpies Universe from Dedri and I simply loved her work, had the privileged to meet her when she was here in SA last year.
      Hope you consider me too.

I would love to test your patterns! I have pictures of some of the items I’ve crocheted on my f/b page. I’m out of town until tomorrow evening, and will send you the link then, since I’m on my phone and don’t have my computer with me. Thanks, Carolyn
